The figures of the Virgin Mary and St. Francis, parallel
to each other, are surrounded by many personalities and
symbols. She is the Immaculate Virgin of St. John s
Book of Revelations, with the moon at her feet. The shaft
is replaced by the cross of John the Baptist and the
serpent by a wild beast.
