The figures of the Virgin Mary and St. Francis, parallel to each other, are surrounded by many personalities and symbols. She is the Immaculate Virgin of St. John ‘s Book of Revelations, with the moon at her feet. The shaft is replaced by the cross of John the Baptist and the serpent by a wild beast.
