Cruxificion. Anonymous, School of Quito. 18th
century. Po1yedromed wood, 65 cm.
This is an extremely dramatic rendering of the agony of
Our Lord. The heart is visible through a perforation on
the left side, protected by glass. It is thought to have
belonged to Bernardo O Higgins, a leader of the
Independence movement.
